Wouldn't it be Nice... To spend a week in the Côte d'Azur!

Yes it was lovely indeed...

I got to spend a whole week in Nice with my good friend Delilah from London and the 2 remaining members of the awesome foursome, plus their lovely friend Barbara! Also had a chance to make day trips to Monaco, Cannes and St Tropez!

Highlights...

Visiting the Monte Carlo casino in Monaco and doubling my money (a whopping 5 euro initial investment) then blowing it all and walking away with a claim voucher for .13 euro cents! No I didn't claim!

Cannes was amazing, the beaches actually had sand and the town had a cool vibe and is home to quite a few super clubs!

St Tropez... Was a mega waste of the 50 euro transport cost to get there... Unless you're staying in St Tropez don't attempt a day trip... So not worth it when you spend 7 hours in transit just to get there, because the public transport is practically non-existent! They did have an AMAZING Chanel
boutique in an estate building with a garden and pool out the back of the boutique, that almost made the trip worth it...

And finally Nice was brilliant! Loved getting lost in the streets of the Old Town and soaking up some rays on the beach from my 17 euro sun bed I hired... The most expensive sun bed hire so far... Ios was cheapest at 6 euro for 2pp, Santorini comes in next at 9 euro for 2pp, Monterosso al Mare was 23 euro for 2pp, but Nice tops the lot at 17 euro for ONE person... And that was with a hotel discount! It was however the most comfy sun bed ever!

Best dinner at Lou Pilla Leva in Nice Old Town... Moules avec frites @ 8 euros!

Nice at night...

Socca a region specialty... Best description... It's a chickpea crepe

Mmmm moules avec frites...

I had at least 1, but the average was 4 Macarons each day... And at least 1 croissant! When in in France...

My swish hotel...

Cinque Terre

I knew I would love this place before I even arrived, which is why I booked an additional 4 days here by myself, even though I'd would already be spending 2 days here on my tour!

So needless to say the little region of Cinque Terre is brilliant!

Highlights...

The walks/hikes between towns... Although when you're actually doing the hikes you're pretty much hating life and sweating every ounce of water out of your body... Hot! Not in a good way!
But the scenery is so beautiful and the little towns of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore are just adorable!

I stayed La Spezia the first time and trained it to the towns and the second time I stayed right in Vernazza which I think is the cutest of all the towns, although it is debatable as Riomaggiore is lovely also!

My accommodation was amazing! Had a little balcony that overlooked the ocean... Just beautiful! The only bad thing... THE 130 STAIRS I had to lug my suitcase and backpack up... And then had to walk up and down numerous times everyday! Let's just say the stairs and I were not friends AT ALL!

View from my room...

Although I do think my legs benefited from all the hiking and walking, so at least there is some redeeming quality in the stairs... At least that's what I told myself everyone I had to climb them... Did I mention there were 130 STAIRS!!!

Another big plus with my accommodation was that the same owner, had the best restaurant in Cinque Terre, serving up the most delicious pesto pasta... And not just any pesto pasta, using Liguria pasta and special pesto the region is renowned for... Needless to say I was there a few nights... Lucky I got a discount for being a guest :)
