Ok so after spending two blissful weeks in the Greek Islands, here are a few of my observations...
Mykonos... Best nightlife, best gelato, but too hard to get home early in the morning... The island only has 35 taxis!
Santorini... My favourite! Best sunsets, gyros, shopping... Also this is where I hired a car to drive around for the day and then ATVs the next day... No accidents and no close calls- woohoo!
Ios- full of Aussies and basically the island is known for it's nightlife with the town full of clubs and bars which seem to play the same music over and over... Leave one club, walk into the next and you get the feeling of déjà vu from 5 minutes before... We all started collecting bar t-shirts which required you to buy 7 shots... So Ios was the messiest island! However the beaches on Ios are the best and much cleaner than Santorini, Athens and Mykonos!
Athens was HOT! It was fantastic to see the ancient historical sites, it's amazing how long some structures have survived for... Unfortunately like most ancient monuments they were covered in scaffolding.
ps it's true that you can't flush toilet paper down the toilet... So annoying... The good thing is if you forget, the toilet still flushes and it doesn't cause any issues- phew!
pps bottled water is cheap to buy in Greece, in comparison to other European countries like France, Italy and Spain
ppps in summary the islands are beautiful and I especially can't wait to go back to Santorini to watch the sunsets and drink cocktails!
